Welcome to the Danfoss Compressor Series
Marine refrigeration problems can be frustrating—especially when you’re unsure whether the fault lies with the compressor or another part of the system.
To help make these systems easier to understand, Titan Marine Air is introducing a nine-part Tech Tip series focused on the Danfoss / Secop BD35F and BD50F compressors commonly used in marine refrigeration.
Over the next nine weeks, we’ll explain how the compressor and its controller work, explore common problems, and demonstrate the checks that can help identify the cause before considering a replacement.
What can you expect?
We’ll begin with how the compressor works and the role of its motor and electronic controller. From there, we’ll look at starting problems, unexpected shutdowns and mechanical damage, before moving on to checks before replacement, controller connections, voltage checks and thermostat troubleshooting.
Each short episode builds on the last, bringing the explanations to life through clear visual demonstrations.

Starting tomorrow, we’ll send you a new Tech Tip every Wednesday.
Before you replace your compressor, check the cause.
